End of the year reflecting…..
As a single mother, it was nerve wrecking starting my own business. I wanted to open a studio so bad, but wasn’t sure if the timing was right for me. I took a leap of faith and opened Flirt Fitness in January of 2012 while I was living with my parents, separated from my sons father, working a full time job and raising a two year-old (not sure I recommend that to anyone). As I began running classes in a tiny space with boxing bags and muddy tires in the corner, I began to realize that this is what I would do for the rest of my life. Three months after being opened, I quit my full time job (and nearly pooped my pants) and thought to myself “Well, here goes nothing.” I’ll never forget that feeling, but there was something inside of me that just knew it was going to work out. One common thing that I always got from my self help books that I read was “If you love what you do, the money will come.”
So, here I am 2 years, 150 students, and 10 instructors later…..reminding myself that I am so lucky to love what I do and to be surrounded by the most caring, nurturing women I have ever met. I now know that my dream to change lives has become a reality. I was never sure how I was going to do it, and if someone said to me 10 years ago, “You’re going to own a pole studio and change lives forever!”, I’m not sure I would have believed them. I couldn’t change lives if I didn’t have the instructors and students that I have. Most of the time it’s not me…..it is the strong family that we have created at Flirt that shines so bright and clear that when a new person walks through the door, they know they can call it home.
Merry Christmas to my extended family. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you all. Thank you for being you; for being a part of a dream to change lives; for helping me change the world one woman at a time; for helping us stand our ground of who we are.
I love you all,
Thank you for loving me,
Thank you for being you,
Because it helps me to BE.
